Paul has spent over 25 years working in the technology sector and the last 10 years in senior management positions. As CTO his focus is on driving customer success through technology and service innovation. Paul enjoys spending time working with clients across the UK on their technology strategy whilst developing in-house technical sales competency, product solution development and managing supplier relationships. Paul has been an active member of numerous advisory councils over the past 8 years and has held a seat on Microsoft's UK & Global Advisory Councils. Paul's passions include running, hiking and skateboarding (and yes, he is too old for the last one!)
Tell us how your career in technology began...
I began my career as a computer programmer working with COBOL 74 and COBOL 85, after a couple of years transitioning into FoxPro and finally moving out of software development

AI is clearly the most talked about, so this is an area you should make sure you understand both the benefits and risks as it will become a key part of modern work in the next few years

When analysing any new technology make sure the business benefits are fully understood – why are you investing in X over Y and what are the real business benefits?

There are many great technology leaders, but for me Austin McChord stands out for creating a brilliant technology and growing a business in Datto that truly looked after its staff, had a fantastic culture and customer focus

Easy one to answer a Jaal Jhul Murgh Curry from my local restaurant and a bottle of Gewürztraminer (Alsace wine)
What keeps you awake at night?
Everything, but mainly either my wife or the cat snoring (sometimes both!)
