What is Microsoft Viva used for?
The Microsoft Viva platform has five key areas; Viva Insights, Viva Goals, Viva Learning, Viva Topics and Viva Connections.
What is Microsoft Viva Insights?
Our way of working has adapted a lot in recent years. Moving from a culture of office-working five days a week, to now working remotely far more often, commuting to a dedicated workspace less, and engaging in more online meetings.
Viva Insights enables your employees to build better work habits, by helping them to track how productivity works for them, providing wellbeing tools and helping them carve out time in their schedules for deep, focused work. There are options for ‘virtual commutes’ too, to help employees get into, or out of, their working mindspace to promote healthy working habits.
Viva Insights enables managers and team leaders to improve the working culture among their team, by enabling ‘no-meeting days’ to allow for focused work without interruption. It also enables management to schedule one-to-one time with individual employees, send praise in relation to a task or project and track communication habits.
Advanced insights are also available within the platform, to discover how employee behaviours relate to business outcomes, utilising in-depth data.
What is Microsoft Viva Goals?
Viva Goals is somewhat self-explanatory, enabling you to set, manage and achieve key goals within teams or company-wide. Align your teams to your organisation’s strategic priorities to ensure everyone is on the same page and working collectively towards this shared goal. This is known to boost morale among employees, particularly when teams are working remotely, as visibility of an end-goal can improve motivation levels and lower feelings of isolation.
Setting these goals also enables employees to see the bigger picture of what is important for the business day-to-day, which improves work-life balance as employees are able to dedicate their focus in the best way.
What is Microsoft Viva Learning?
Viva Learning enables employees to access a range of learning and training tools in the context of your business. These can be incorporated into the platforms that you use already on a daily basis, such as Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365. With this, you’re able to encourage social learning with Teams chat and peer recommendations to make learning across teams more collaborative. You can support employees in their learning goals by bookmarking content that would be of use to them, or by setting them assignments, personal suggestions and even calendar prompts to keep them on track.
You can also integrate third-party learning providers and systems, as well as incorporate your own company resources, to create a bank of useful content that your employees can refer to for support in their day-to-day work.
What is Microsoft Viva Topics?
Viva Topics is an automated system whereby you can organise your content and expertise throughout your organisation to ensure it is easily accessible. Using AI to identify, process and organise content across your organisation’s data, Viva Topics enables users to search for resources using keywords and be served with relevant matches.
Viva Topics also helps in the creation of business resources, helping curators to cultivate key topics and put together related resources through topic pages and cards. Topic cards can then be displayed across your Microsoft 365 applications to help employees discover wider knowledge in the context of their work.
What is Microsoft Viva Connections?
Viva Connections works to ensure your employees feel connected and encourages contribution to help the whole team thrive in a hybrid working structure. By providing insight to key news, conversations and resources that aim to inspire and engage, Viva Connections aims to promote communication in the workplace by providing what can be thought of as ‘conversation starters’ relevant to your business.
This helps to foster a culture of inclusion and encourage meaningful workplace connections, helping you to navigate any organisational changes with full transparency and ensuring all employees remain informed. Viva Connections also integrates with mindfulness application, Headspace, to ensure your team are taking breaks and looking after themselves.
